Death

Death changes perception, it changes everything around us;
Floods us with memorable, happy and sad remembrances,
Causing a barrage of emotions to erupt thus!

We remember thoughts, told, untold and those unsaid,
We wish, if only, I had said, I love you, instead
Of fighting over petty things that seem trivial to tread.

Many ‘if onlys’ trouble our mind, leaving us uneasy and restless,
Quirks about the person now seem endearing and harmless,
Bitter sweet memories paint a collage that’s boundless.

Guilt of not saying things at the right moment,
Regret for words said in anger and arguments,
Alas! Only time will bring peace and can heal the pain of bereavement!

(Dedicated to my grandmother who gave me the most important lesson of life.
May her soul rest in peace!)

  1. The way you have written about the experience of loosing someone and then regretting teeny tiny things about how our relationship is very nice…
