My Conundrum

I don’t seem to have any aim;
I am no longer part of the game,
I wonder, what will I ever achieve?
Will there ever be any reprieve?

The accolades have wilted,
The appreciation has withered,
My identity is lost and deprived,
Will I ever be again recognised?

Household work, neverending and more,
Cooking and cleaning is a chore.
I wonder, will my career take flight?
Will the labels, get any better or right?

I aspire to work, from office or home,
Business ideas get piled up in a dome,
Insta and Facebook attract my attention,
Can they help me make money, is a big question?

Enjoying my child’s growth, adds meaning
To my otherwise, aimless and mundane living;
I wonder, being a mother and wife, is that enough?
Will getting back my identity, be any more tough?

  1. That’s very awesome Malavika….. Very much can relate….. How life changes after marriage and kids were born.

    It’s a tough job to be a wife or/and mother…. Which should be much appreciated work.

    Don’t worry old days will be back where we can again go back to chase dreams.

    All the best, dear.

  3. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾 good expression…Very nice choice of words!!
    It reminded me a story of Dr Iravati Karve. She was an anthropologist, professor, PhD guide, and a very active social worker. One day while she was returning home she heard a voice अरे ती बघ आपल्या आन्याची आई !!
    She says that was the moment she that realised her identity is *now* complete😄😄
    So… Nothing to worry. We keep on picking up the threads of our whole identity and being a mother is one such very strong thread👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😍😍😍🤗🤗

  4. I think you ve expressed on behalf of every mom. I was able to visualize myself in ur words. Though people say being mom is the best, we are doing great, etc, there is something left behind for us to achieve. I hope for a good future for us and our kids in the near future.
